I have been promising my daughter for a few years now that I would make her a designated fairy garden but only ever seem to plonk fairy garden orderments in an area and call it a day.
Having recently moved to a new property I have found the perfect spot to set up a fairy garden in an existing space with stones and a few succulents already in place to this I've added little paths with river stones and potted pansies in terracotta planters that you can find at the warehouse or any other garden centre- I've gone with the terracotta look to go with the fairy garden theme even though I personally prefer black or grey planters myself.
You can also find a range of fairy garden orderments online, at the warehouse or kmart to add to a fairy garden space and can even add fairy lights or solar lights to add extra magic to your fairy garden space.
The shells are optional extras my daughter added.
Small flowering plants like polyanthus also work in fairy themed gardens.
Hardest thing to find is actual fairies for the fairy garden that kids can pick up and play with so I've gone with a couple of fairy figurines I have found online to complete this fairy garden play area.
